Computed tomography (CT) of the heart uses special x-ray equipment to produce pictures of the coronary arteries to determine if they are blocked or narrowed. This may involve a quantitative measure of calcium build-up in the arteries and/or direct imaging of the arteries using a contrast injection. The information obtained can help evaluate whether you are at increased risk for heart attack.
